The AQUA SMART® MBBR system is a trademark for WWTP developed and owned by Ideal Solutions Company. The AQUA SMART MBBR® (Moving Bed Biochemical Reactor) system is supplied, and built-in mobile containers fabricated from 6 mm thick steel sheets coated with anti-corrosion high build epoxy coatings. The wastewater will be collected in an equalization basin before it is introduced to the Bioreactor.

The Biochemical Reactor
AQUA SMART® MBBR is an Attached Growth on Media Technology . The reactor container is usually divided into 3 separate sections in which the biological materials are oxidized and transformed into CO2 and water. The container is loaded with Bio media and fitted with an air diffusing system. The media used is a state of the art, each M3 of media creates more than 5000 M2 of surface area in the reactor, the huge surface area created by the media becomes the substrate for the bacteria to grow on and multiply The rapid increase in the bacteria population accelerates the oxidation process of the organics which in return reduces the BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) in a very short time .
The Effluent Water Clarifiers
Water treated in the Biochemical Reactors must go through a clarification process by which solid-liquid separation takes place. To expedite the solid precipitation special polymers are mixed with the water before it is introduced to the clarifiers. In the clarification process the clear water seeps from the top rim of the unit and the thick sludge stays down in the bottom of the unit . The sludge extracted from the bottom of the thickener is further treated to become a natural soil fertilizer.
The Sludge Treatment
The sludge will be introduced to a press filter unit in which the liquid sludge is transformed to solid cake + clean water.
With the filter press installed, the AQUA SMART® MBBR system becomes environmentally sustainable according to the following process:
Wastewater → MBBR System = Clean Water +Sludge
Sludge → Filter Press = Solid Cake (Organic Fertilizer) + Clean water
Clean Water → Disinfectant = Siphon Water or Irrigation water
